John Mander served in WWII in Austria and was instrumental in reviving Freemasonary there after the war. The Freemasons had been forced underground during the war but after the war Mr Mander helped them to re-establish a lodge and was asked by them to seek official recognition from the Freemason Lodge in London. The story was uncovered when his daughter found the German newspaper cutting about her father and then traced the lodge.
