Unemployment The number of people working in Britain is at a record high of more than 28.5m, while job vacancies have also risen. While unemployment rose marginally towards the end of 2004, the number of people claiming benefit is at a 30-year low. The government claims that its New Deal has helped more people into the workforce. |
