British help

British charities have raised £422m on top of the government’s pledges.

The Disasters Emergency Committee, which includes Oxfam, the British Red Cross and Save the Children, has allocated more than £125m to be spent in 2005 to provide food, shelter, sanitation and fresh water for the benefit of 3.6 million people.
