Police ready for any terrorist threat
Police officers
Police training and procedures have changed
Jersey Police say there is no direct terrorist threat to the island.

But the authorities are taking suspected terrorist incidents in the UK seriously.

Police training and procedures in Jersey have had to change since the Twin Towers atrocity in September 2001.

The island's police force say they are ready to adjust to any change in the level of threat.

Preparation level

Deputy police chief Roland Jones said: "There is no direct threat posed to Jersey at the moment.

"But we have to be aware and have to be prepared for any eventuality.

"As we have seen on the news in the last few weeks, in England lots of things happen very quickly.

"As a result, we have a level of preparedness we are comfortable at."

He added the timetable for issuing some police officers with special suits designed for chemical, biological or nuclear incidents had been brought forward after the 11 September attacks.
