Chairman welcomes new bus depot
A Connex bus
Connex took over the island's bus service last year
Jersey's bus operator hopes its new depot will put an end to the problems it faced in taking over the island's service.

It is thought a permanent base will make Connex, the company which took over from Jersey Bus last September, more efficient.

At the official opening of the La Collette depot on Tuesday, the chairman of Connex in Jersey said the transition has been difficult.

Antoine Hurel said having no permanent base had caused problems for the company.

Improve transport

"An operator is somebody who can face a difficult situation with a makeshift solution, but it is not what we like," he said.

"The difficulty of the transition was the lack of proper assets, which are the depot and the buses."

He also said the company will work with the States to improve the standard of public transport for the island.

The depot has room for parking, repairing and washing the buses.
