Singapore airline sacks crash pilots
Singapore Airlines has dismissed two of the three pilots involved in a plane crash in Taiwan two years ago, in which 83 people died.

The Boeing 747 was attempting to take off from Taipei's International airport during a storm when it mistakenly went down a closed runway and crashed into construction equipment.

Taiwanese investigators said the crash was caused by pilot error, but the Singaporean authorities said the runways at Taipei airport were not properly marked.

The Singapore Airlines statement said it had received notification from Taiwanese prosecutors that charges filed against the two pilots have been suspended.

The Airline Pilot's Association of Singapore has described the sackings as harsh and inappropriate.
