Picture gallery: Guatemala welcomes Pope
Pope John Paul II has arrived in Guatemala on the latest stage of his tour of the Americas to be met by a high level official party and thousands of followers.

The most important part of his visit will be the canonisation of a Spanish friar but he also aims to support the local Catholic Church, whose flock is getting smaller after an increasing number of conversions over recent years.
