Council workers are campaigning against plans to offer them a three per cent pay increase.

Union members have argued that many staff earn less than £4.80 per hour and should receive a six per cent rise.

Rubbish collections, leisure centres, libraries, cemeteries, and day centres for the elderly have all been affected by the walkout and many schools have also closed their doors for the day.
