Edward Hobart, project leader, said: "i-uk.com is a ground-breaking global resource which acts as an information gateway to a vibrant nation.

"Visitors to the site can access the information they need to study, trade and indeed, enjoy themselves in the UK."

UK fashion

The website features four core subject areas, which aim to demonstrate British creativity and innovation. These are: Life & Culture, Education, Business and Visiting the UK.

Potential visitors can then find out information on UK fashion, music, sport and culture, travel, education, science, technology and tourism, along with trade and industry.

The site will be highlighted in PR events, including a fashion show in Moscow, an internet competition targeted at Russian students, as well as an extensive messaging and advertising campaign in Singapore reflecting the latest UK trends and a two-day Indo-British festival in India.

The project has been developed as part of the Foreign Office's enhanced online presence.

It was developed in association with British Trade International (Trade Partners UK and InvestUK), the British Council and the British Tourist Authority.
