Adrian Flook

Date of birth

9 July 1963

Political profile

Adrian Flook was one of the few Tory success stories of 2001 when he took Taunton from the Lib Dems after a campaign mainly based around hunting and countryside issues.

This was despite his own urban background in stockbroking and financial PR.

He described himself as "not pro-hunting, pro-freedom".

A former Wandsworth councillor and a member of the Conservative Way Forward group, he is a right-wing Thatcherite eurosceptic.

He was a staunch supporter of the "Metric Martyr" campaign.

He currently sits on the Commons culture, media and sport select committee.

But he achieved his highest media profile so far when he was revealed in the press to be seeking a wife.
