BA jet in emergency landing
140 people boarded the plane in Glasgow
A British Airways flight from Glasgow has made an emergency landing at Heathrow after experiencing problems with its hydraulics system.
The plane, Flight 1483, with 140 passengers on board, landed safely at Heathrow, its intended destination, at 1255 BST. The left side of the Boeing 737-140 series jet lost some hydraulic power, a BA spokeswoman said. "Pilots are trained for this eventuality and carried out an emergency landing," she said. "The fire engines were called as a precaution and no one was injured." As a precaution, fire engines were sent to meet it when it touched down. One runway had to be closed for about half an hour while the plane was towed off, causing some delays to other flights.
