Dame Judi Dench ended up soaked in champagne after officially naming a new cruise liner in Essex. Here are some images from the day:

Dame Judi Dench stood demurely before the £250m cruise ship she was in Essex to launch
Aided by the ship's captain, Dame Judi prepared to cut the cord on the bubbly but it was not to be first time lucky
At the third attempt Dame Judi gave it her best shot as she cracked the bottle against the ship but...
...the force of the smash sent the bubbly everywhere, giving the giggling actress and a concerned captain a good soaking
