Hollywood star Leonardo DiCaprio has jetted into Britain for the second time in a month to attend the première of his latest film Catch Me If You Can.

The film's UK première will take place in Leicester Square on Monday night.

DiCaprio was last seen in London just before Christmas for the première of the Martin Scorsese epic Gangs Of New York.

The film is directed by Steven Spielberg, and tells the story of teenage conman Frank W Abagnale.

He went on a $2.5m spending spree after pretending to be an airline pilot, doctor and college lecturer in the early 1960s.

The film also star Tom Hanks as FBI agent Carl Hanratty, who vowed to track him down.

Both Hanks and Spielberg will also be at the première.

Catch Me If You Can also features the real-life Abagnale - who was caught aged 21 after a worldwide hunt - in a cameo as a French police officer.

The former conman has become one of the world's leading experts on helping businesses avoid fraud.

Catch Me If You Can has already been a big success in the US, taking more than $30m (£18.9m) in its first weekend.

It was three times more than what Gangs Of New York took on its opening weekend.

DiCaprio was greeted by a crowd of over 2,000 when he visited Leicester Square for Gangs Of New York.

On Monday he flew into Luton Airport from Stuttgart for Catch Me If You Can's UK première.

He will fly out on Tuesday for further premières in Paris and Rome.

The 28-year-old star said that it had been the biggest crowd he had seen at any of the film's debut screenings.

DiCaprio failed to be nominated on Monday morning for a Bafta following his role in Gangs Of New York, although co-star Daniel Day-Lewis is shortlisted for best actor.

DiCaprio's two new films follow a two-year break from the big screen after the poor reception for the ill-fated The Beach.

DiCaprio is set to star as Macedonian general Alexander The Great in Baz Luhrmann's forthcoming biopic.

He is also due to play a young Howard Hughes in Martin Scorsese's next film after Gangs Of New York, The Aviators.
