In Pictures: Summer Exhibition
The Royal Academy of Art's prestigious Summer Exhibition 2002 has opened to the public.

The exhibition covers many art genres including paintings, sculptures and drawings and chosen from 12,000 submitted works of art.

The majority of the works are for sale, vying for prizes worth £50,000.
