Thieves target patrol car
Police car
Handcuffs and a briefcase were stolen from the car
Two police officers in Northampton had their patrol car broken into while they were trying to save a man's life.

The officers had parked outside Great Meadow Court just after 1900 GMT on Tuesday.

They were trying to resuscitate a man when several items were stolen from their car, including a pair of handcuffs and two fluorescent jackets.

A police briefcase was also stolen, and was later found burned nearby.

Detective Sergeant Dave Field said: "It's unbelievable that while officers were trying to do their best in saving a man's life an utterly criminal person was breaking into their vehicle."

They did not manage to resuscitate the man.
