Brighton stages anti-war protest
Anti-war protesters
Thousands have joined rallies elsewhere in Britain
Hundreds of people have joined an anti-war protest in Brighton.

MPs, peace campaigners and the leader of the Muslim Parliament of Britain, Dr Ghayasuddin Siddiqui, have been speaking as part of the 'Hands Off Iraq' movement.

Organisers, Sussex Action for Peace, said they hoped the protest at Brighthelm, in North Road, would draw attention to the consequences of war with Iraq.

Members of the Iraqi community in the region were also invited.

Scheduled speakers included Jeremy Corbyn MP and documentary maker Miriam Ryle.

Mary-Jane Burkett, of Sussex Action for Peace, said the march was intended to help people make up their own minds by presenting the arguments against war.
