Fears over housing plans
Building site
Campaigners claim new housing would overwhelm local roads
Campaigners are protesting against plans to build 110 houses on a greenfield site in Leicester.

They say the development between Loughborough and Hathern would cause chaos if it went ahead.

Developers Taylor Woodrow have submitted a planning application to Charnwood Borough Council to build the homes between the Dishley estate and Hathern.

But some residents say the area cannot cope with any more development.

Infrastructure problems

Nigel Watret, spokesman for the residents in Loughborough, said: "It's just going to be too busy for the children going to school, it will be too much traffic.

"When I get up in the morning to go to work I am having to queue to get out of the estate already.

"If you can imagine another development being put on the site, that's going to be more people going to work, more people going to school.

"It will be too much for the roads, the infrastructure isn't there."
