Libraries hook up to the web

All 30 libraries are hooked up to the net
Libraries in Wiltshire are providing free, high-speed internet access to their members.

Over 140 computers have been installed in the county's 30 libraries - complete with broadband connection - as part of a £1m investment programme.

The project was funded through a National Lottery grant, part of a £200m scheme to connect libraries nationally to the net.

The equipment is available to everyone who is a Wiltshire library member.

Pauline Palmer, assistant director for libraries and heritage, said: "We are moving into the 21st century in a big way with these computers.

"By giving people free access to this resource we can help people get access to the information they need."
