Rail delays for commuters
Midland Mainline train
The company hopes trains will be back to normal later
Commuters in Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire faced severe disruption on Midland Mainline trains on Tuesday morning.

A systems failure between Leicester and Syston meant cancellations and delays on the Sheffield to London line.

Between 0430 GMT and 0600 GMT, no trains could pass through the affected area.

Later, a reduced service was restored, with one train an hour instead of two.

A spokeswoman for Midland Mainline said the company hoped the fault would be repaired before the evening peak.
