Stricken vessel heads for Falmouth
Falmouth Coastguards have sent two lifeboats
A coaster which broke down four miles off the Isles of Scilly on Monday is being towed into Falmouth.
Lengthy attempts were made to carry out repairs at sea to the engine of the German-registered coaster, Heike. But her owners decided that a tug, Anglian Prince, which was at the scene, should tow her into Falmouth. The ship was heading for the Irish Republic when she ran into difficulties. Initially, it was feared she might drift towards the islands, and lifeboats from St Mary's and Sennen Cove were launched. But within hours the vessel had moved away from trouble, driven by strong winds. The lifeboats were recalled during the evening. |
