School destroyed by fire to be rebuilt
Firefighters
Crews from the Cheshire Fire Service tackled the fire
A south Chesire school which was destroyed by fire will definitely be rebuilt, according to the school's governors.

Alternative accommodation is being sought by the governors for 300 pupils at Underwood West Infants and Nursery School in Crewe.

It is hoped alternative arrangements will be announced by Monday evening.

But governors say there will be no classes until at least the middle of the week.

Police investigation

Firefighters were called to the school on Thursday at about 2030 GMT.

Nine fire engines and more than 50 firefighters were needed to tackle the blaze.

Workmen have spent all weekend at the neighbouring Underwood West Primary School, which also suffered some damage.

It will re-open on Tuesday.

A joint fire and police investigation into the cause of the fire is under way.
