Residents can see the four proposed designs for a new waterfront feature at the city's Walker Art Gallery.

More than 5,000 people have visited since the exhibition opened on Tuesday.

The city's council leader, Mike Storey, is urging the people of Liverpool to send their views on the plans directly to him.

The exhibition is to be extended for another week, until 28 November.

The "grace" that is chosen will complement the three existing ones - the Liver, the Cunard and the Port of Liverpool buildings.

Models, images and virtual "fly-throughs" have been developed to offer visitors to the exhibition a clear idea of what the grace will be like.

The schemes, which will include offices, apartments and retail facilities, have been designed by architects Lord Rogers, Lord Foster, Will Alsop and Edward Cullinan.

It is hoped that the winning design will be named before Christmas.

A special email address has been set up so that people can send their views on the designs to the council leader.
