Dead student named by police
Area where body was found
The area is sealed off by police tape
Police have named the Exeter University student whose body was found outside a nightclub in the city.

David Govier, aged 20, and from the Torbay area, was found on Saturday morning.

It is thought he died after falling into a stairwell near the Timepiece nightclub.

A passer-by found his body ten hours later on steps leading to a passageway in Northernhay Place.

It is believed he suffered head injuries after falling about 15 feet into the stairwell.

The owner of Timepiece described it as a terrible tragedy and closed the nightclub on Saturday night as a mark of respect.

It is the second time in recent months that a man has been found in the stairwell.

In July firemen had to free a man trapped behind railings.
