Wartime bomb closes station
The station was closed for more than 30 minutes
Derby railway station had to be evacuated and the surrounding area cordoned off after a suspected World War II bomb was found.
It is believed unexploded bomb was uncovered during digging at Roundhouse Way near the station. A bomb disposal team has been sent to the station to determine whether it is a danger to the public. The train station was closed for more than 30 minutes, but re-opened to the public at about 0850 GMT on Wednesday. A small area around Pride Park is still cordoned off while experts assess the danger. Derbyshire police spokesman said: "The suspected bomb is around three or four inches in diameter and has fins on the back." A spokeswoman for Midland Mainline said services have been affected by the evacuation.
