One-day clinic to help leukaemia sufferer
Eli Carey
Eli Carey was diagnosed with leukaemia in 1997
The family of a man suffering from leukaemia has set up an emergency blood testing clinic in Watford in a bid to find him a bone marrow donor.

Eli Carey, 37, from Bushey, near Watford, Hertforshire, was diagnosed with acute myloid leukaemia in 1997.

Five years ago the father-of-five went into remission but the disease returned in June this year.

Eli has now been told he must have a bone marrow transplant.

'Get a match'

His family are encouraging friends and locals to attend the blood stem cell donor centre to see if they are a match.

Eli's brother-in-law, Perry Buckley, told BBC London: "What we are hoping for is to get as many people here as we can.

"The more we get here the more chance we've got of getting a match for Eli.

"If we can't get a match for him then hopefully we can get a match for someone else."

The family was hoping that about 200 people would attend the clinic at the BK Sports and Social Club, in Sandown Road, Watford, between 1400 BST and 2000 BST on Tuesday.
