Chemical alert closes hospital
A hospital on Merseyside has been closed while six people are treated for chemical contamination.

It is understood a man came into contact with a toxic, flammable chemical at his workplace.

He went to Victoria Central Hospital's minor injuries unit in Mill Lane, Wallasey with his wife and child, where nurses and paramedics also had to be treated.

Twenty firefighters and a chemical incident unit were sent to the hospital.

Previous incident

A spokesperson for Merseyside Fire Brigade described the measures as precautionary.

The same chemical incident unit was used last week when a family from Birkenhead were taken to hospital.

A man had contaminated his wife and son with a substance he brought home from his commercial printing work.
