One of Jersey's private secondary schools has announced that is to close later this year because it has not attracted enough new pupils.
Blacks Academy, in St Lawrence, will shut in September.
It currently has about 60 pupils. Of those, 39 will have to find places at other schools.
Academy Director Peter Feketer says the school was beginning to make a profit, but less demand for places for the next school year meant it could not go on.
Mr Feketer is blaming a generally low level of economic activity, which he said meant specialist schools like his could not survive.
Its closure means 12 staff, some of whom are part-time, will have to find other jobs.
