Power costs set to rise in Jersey
Electricity bills for householders in Jersey are to increase by 26p per week next year.

The 2.5% increase is the first one to be introduced by Jersey Electricity in four years.

The company said it had tried to control the increases, but price rises in oil and gas over the last year were finally taking effect.

The firm says even though it expects electricity prices to continue to rise, bills will not go up again until at least 2006.
