The number of people looking after sick relatives is increasing, according to Jersey's Carers Association.
There are already about 4,000 carers in the island, and with Jersey's ageing population, the charity says this will continue to rise.
But carers will now be able to get help from a new drop-in centre which has moved from Newgate Street to the Parade entrance of the General Hospital.
The move was supported by Deputy Celia Scott Warren, of the Health Committee.
"We obviously recognise the importance of carers in the community," she said.
"The are unsung heroes in the amount of work they do.
