Tax rise fears grow
Taxes may go up again if Jersey's politicians cannot find a way to save money.

Islanders also face a cutback in services as committee presidents look at where savings can be made.

Tourism has £8m to spend this year, but next year's budget might not be so generous.

Jersey's government faces the prospect of going £16m into the red, unless the States make cuts.

Committees like tourism are having to find savings of up to 10%.

But islanders are unlikely to learn what public services will be affected until the summer.

More than 150 proposals have been put forward, hoping to generate a saving of £30m.

But growth is also expected to be about £30m for extra spending on health and education.
