The card is aimed at cutting benefits fraud
Home Secretary David Blunkett has unveiled plans for a benefits "entitlement card".
He is facing widespread opposition from civil liberty groups and MPs from all parties who fear it will result in a general ID card. But Mr Blunkett has sought to reassure critics, saying there will be a six month consultation period. Here are the key proposals under discussion at a glance:
