A man murdered outside a Sheffield nightclub could have been the victim of mistaken identity, say police.
Gerald Anthony Smith, 42, was shot outside the Afro-Caribbean club in Spital Hill on 18 December and died later in hospital.
The shots were fired from a passing car, which sped off towards the Wicker area of the city.
Eight men have been arrested in connection with the shooting but have all been released without charge.
Wrong place
Detective Superintendent Steve Talbot said: "We think this may have been a case of mistaken identity.
"Gerald Smith may have been in the wrong place at the wrong time.
"I am satisfied that the motive for the shooting was not related to Gerald Smith."
Mr Smith leaves a wife Lorna and four young children.
