Special payments are being made to Nottinghamshire police officers who stay on the same beat as a financial recognition of their job.
If beat officers police the same patch for three years they will receive a total of £6,000.
The initiative is designed to encourage continuity in policing the community.
Nottingham North MP Graham Allen has welcomed the move. He has campaigned for a way of encouraging police officers to stay on the beat.
