Residents praised for recycling efforts
Recycling scheme
The council has to meet government recycling targets
A pilot recycling scheme in Filey has been hailed a success.

Thousands of residents have been allocated new blue bins for recyclable waste.

Newspapers and magazines are put in a main bin, with a smaller bin inside for plastic bottles and cans.

The blue bin is collected on alternate fortnights to the green bin, which collects all other waste.

Andy Skelton, head of environmental health at Scarborough Council, said: "The response from residents in the pilot scheme has been excellent, very positive indeed.

"We are very grateful to them for their efforts."

The pilot scheme is part of the council's efforts to meet government targets on recycling.
