Northampton deal revealed
Northampton Town Football Club
The club had to find £500,000 to secure its future
The takeover of Northampton Town Football Club has been announced.

A spokesman for the club - known as the Cobblers - told the BBC that the club had been sold to property developer and former Queens Park Rangers director Andrew Ellis.

He had been hoping to buy 60% of the Cobblers' shares.

Ellis will pay the £500,000 that will save the club from going into administration.

In September the club revealed that it needed to raise that sum by the end of January next year to stave off administration.

The club lost out when ITV Digital collapsed owing the Division Two team about £500,000.
