Football club takeover 'close'
Northampton Town Football Club
NTFC is close to securing its future
A takeover which would secure the future of Northampton Town Football Club looks close to being completed.

On Tuesday, Northampton Town chairman Barry Stonhill revealed that discussions were taking place about a possible new owner of the club.

In September the club revealed that it needed to raise £500,000 by the end of January next year to stave off administration.

The club lost out when ITV Digital collapsed owing the Division Two team about £500,000.

'Harmonious discussions'

Mr Stonhill said in a statement: "Discussions regarding the future of Northampton Town Football Club have been taking place with an interested party over the past two to three weeks.

"Those discussions have been harmonious and fruitful and there is a good chance a deal will be concluded within the next 10 days.

"If the club does indeed have new owners, they are keen to work closely with the current board of directors and more importantly the fans."
