Investigation into prison death
Styal prison
The woman was found in her cell at Styal prison
An investigation is under way after a 29-year-old woman from Manchester died in a Cheshire prison.

Anna Claire Baker died at Styal Prison in Wilmslow, while she was on remand charged with false imprisonment.

She was found hanging and unconscious in her cell last Tuesday.

Prison officers tried to resuscitate her but she was pronounced dead an hour later.

A Prison Service spokesman said a post mortem examination had been carried out and there would be an inquest into the death.

He added that an internal investigation at the prison has also been launched.
