A Prison Service investigation will be held
A prisoner on remand has died after being found hanging in his cell.

Gary Horth, 30, from Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, was pronounced dead at 0735BST at Bedford Prison on Friday.

Staff and paramedics worked to resuscitate him but without success.

A Prison Service spokewoman said Mr Horth had been charged with supplying drugs.

She said: "He was found hanging in his cell at 6.55am.

"Staff attempted resuscitation and paramedics were called but he was pronounced dead at 7.35am.

"The police coroner and next-of-kin have been informed and there will be a separate Prison Service investigation."
