Meals
In Welsh the three main meals of the day are: | Brecwast | Breakfast | | Cinio | Lunch | | Swper | Supper |
If we want to ask someone what they like to eat for these meals we say: | Beth dych chi'n hoffi i frecwast? | What do you like for breakfast? |
Or, in the more informal way, "Beth wyt ti'n hoffi i frecwast?" | Beth wyt ti'n hoffi i frecwast? | What do you like for breakfast? | | Beth wyt ti'n hoffi i ginio? | What do you like for lunch? | | Beth wyt ti'n hoffi i swper? | What do you like for supper? | Notice that there is a soft mutation after the 'i'. Brecwast becomes frecwast and cinio becomes ginio.| Dw i'n hoffi tost i frecwast. | I like toast for breakfast. | | Dw i'n hoffi brechdanau i ginio. | I like sandwiches for lunch. | | Dw i'n hoffi pasta i swper. | I like pasta for supper. |
