To want
In Welsh the verb isio, means 'to want' and is different to other verbs. Edrychwch - look at these sentences: | Dw i'n bwyta. | I eat / I'm eating. | | Dw i isio. | I want. | | Mae hi'n rhedeg. | She runs / she is running. | | Mae hi isio. | She wants. |
Notice that there isn't an 'n' before the verb isio. To ask someone what they want we say: Be' dach chi isio? - What do you want?
or, more informally
Be' wyt ti isio?
To ask if they want something specific, we say: | Wyt ti isio paned? | Do you want a cuppa? | | Wyt ti isio siocled? | Do you want chocolate? |
