Mae gen i chwaer. Enw fy chwaer ydy Anna. | I have a sister. My sister's name is Anna. | Mae gen i nai. Enw fy nai ydy Iolo. | I have a nephew. My nephew's name is Iolo. |
Above, you will see the pronoun fy (my) used. We need to remember that the pronoun 'fy' causes a treiglad trwynol (nasal mutation). The letters T C P B G D change directly after it. For example: | tad | fy nhad | | perthynas | fy mherthynas | | gwraig | fy ngwraig | | cefnder | fy nghefnder | | brawd | fy mrawd |
look at these examples: | Mae fy ngwraig yn athrawes. | My wife is a teacher. | | Enw fy nghyfnither ydy Susan. | My cousin's name is Susan. | | Enw fy mrawd-yng-nghyfraith ydy Owen. | My brother-in-law's name is Owen. | | Mae fy ngŵr yn beiriannydd. | My husband is an engineer. | | Mae fy nhaid yn bostmon. | My grandfather is a postman. |
