| Mae gen i annwyd. | I have a cold. | | Mae gen i beswch. | I have a cough. | | Mae gen i wres. | I have a temperature. | | Mae'r ddannodd gen i. | I have toothache. | | Mae gen i feirws. | I have a virus. | | Mae gen i haint. | I have a bug. | Notice that we say 'mae'r ddannodd'. We always say 'y ddannodd'; the definite article always comes before it. If you're feeling very ill you could say:| Mae gen i annwyd trwm. | I have a heavy cold. | | Mae gen i wres uchel. | I have a high temperature. | | Mae gen i beswch cas. | I have a nasty cough. |
The preposition gan changes according to the person it is referring to. Learn this pattern: | Gen i | Mae gen i beswch. | I have a cough. | | Gen ti | Mae gen ti annwyd. | You have a cough. | | Gynno fo | Mae'r ddannodd gynno fo. | He has toothache. | | Gynni hi | Mae gynni hi wres uchel. | She has a temperature. | | Gynnon ni | Mae gynnon ni annwyd. | We have a cold. | | Gynnoch chi | Mae gynnoch chi beswch. | You (pl./formal) have a cough. | | Gynnyn nhw | Mae'r ddannodd gynnyn nhw. | They have toothache. |
