North Entry
The past
Now that you can talk about your morning routine in the present tense here's how to use the past tense. | Dw i'n codi | Mi wnes i godi | I got up | | Dw i'n molchi | Mi wnes i molchi | I washed myself | | Dw i'n gwisgo | Mi wnes i wisgo | I got dressed | | Dw i'n bwyta | Mi wnes i fwyta | I ate |
Mi wnes i means I did. Therefore the literal meaning of Mi wnes i godi is I did get up but this is the pattern used in north Wales to say I got up. Remember that you have to have a soft mutation after Mi wnes i E.g. gwisgo Mi wnes i wisgo. Further examples of the past tense:
| Ffonio (to telephone) | - mi wnes i ffonio | | Cerdded (to walk) | - mi wnes i gerdded | | Rhedeg (to run) | - mi wnes i redeg
| Here are some examples of full sentences| Mi wnes i fwyta brecwast. | | Mi wnes i weld ci. | | Mi wnes i ddarllen llyfr. |
