Paying for your course

  • Your LEA Student Awards Department can tell you about any financial support they may offer for part-time and distance learning courses.
  • If you’re working and you want to take a course that will help you in your current job, your employer may be willing to help out.
  • Career Development Loans are a way of borrowing money to finance learning.
  • If you’re 16 or 17 and working you may have the right to time off to study.
  • Government-training programmes like Modern Apprenticeships and National Traineeships give young people the chance to get qualifications while earning a wage or a training allowance. Ask at your local Careers Centre.
