FAQ

6. After Year 12 & 13/college I don’t want to go to university. What other options are open to me?

Don’t worry, there are always plenty of options:

  • Take a gap year with the possibility of going to university the following year
  • Go into a Modern Apprenticeship or Accelerated Modern Apprenticeship
  • Go into employment with in-house training - Go into employment without formal training
  • Go into temporary employment while reviewing options
  • Take a college course to specialize in a particular area or even change direction
  • Take a part-time course, e.g. evening class, while working (you may have to pay for this)

Remember that university will always be an option in the future if you have the necessary entry requirements. More and more people are going to university as mature students as people feel ready to study at different points in their life.

If you find yourself unemployed or unsure of your next steps, there is always help at hand from your local careers company or Job Centre.
