Malcolm with his birds!
Malcolm with his birds!

Could you ever believe that a solitary pigeon could make you £30,000?!

By Syma Mughal
Pigeon fanciers … they are a certain breed of man, but don't pigeon hole them just yet!

Forget the flat caps, stray feathers and smokey meeting rooms.  It's a world of big money, highly trained athletes and plush living and that's just the pigeons!

When this Director of a local company gets home from a long day at the office, the best part of his day begins.

Immediately he re-dresses and leaves his wife for the rest of the evening.  He can be found at the bottom of his garden with 150 much loved, top racing pigeons.  Away from hustle and bustle of business life, Malcolm Timmis is one of Staffordshire's most successful pigeon fanciers.

Pigeons
Malcolm's pigeons!

Holding his most prized pigeon of all, he quietly states “I wouldn't take £10,000 for this pigeon.”

Remarkable considering most people see these creatures as pests, but Malcolm explains that street pigeons and homing pigeons are certainly not the same animal.

Listen to Malcolm Timmis and the pigeons that are in a completely different league!
