The quiet man of the ring
Chris Eubank spent time in the celebrity Big Brother house

Chris Eubank's troubled upbringing in Britain resulted in him spending time in care and on the streets.

It was not until he was 16, and living with his father in New York, that he took advantage of the stability to graduate from high school - and take up boxing.

In 1994 he won the amateur Spanish Golden Glove Championships and turned professional the following year - a move which ultimately saw him return to Britain to train under Barry Hearn.

In November 1990, Chris won the WBO Middleweight Title knocking out Nigel Benn in the ninth round and went on to successfully defend it in a controversial bout against Michael Watson in 1991.

The fight was rearranged but was to end in tragedy.

Chris won the fight but minutes after the 12-round contest, Watson collapsed and remained in a coma for months which has left him paralysed.

An eccentric character, Eubank's hobbies include speaking, teaching, philosophy, reading quotations, fashion, dancing, poetry and fighting (mentally and physically) legally.

He married his wife Karron in 1990 and they have four children.

Most recently, Chris was in the Comic Relief Big Brother House. The first round of voting raised £115,000 and Chrus was ejected from the house.

Chris says everyone involved was a winner as it was for charity.

In his younger days, Chris admits to shoplifting when he was younger.

It afforded him a £700-a-week wage! There were three of them, Chris, Nasty and The Stickman "we were like the three musketeers," he said.

The final straw was when he smashed the window of a store and took a couple of suits.

He was in a mini cab when he was stopped by police - the magistrate was told that Chris was a promising young boxer and let Eubank off with a warning.

As Chris says: "I never looked back."
