Rubin had been seeded fifth for the Indian Wells tournament

America's Chanda Rubin was forced to withdraw from the Indian Wells women's tour event just hours before it started on Wednesday because of a knee injury.
Rubin, seeded fifth for the tournament, has been troubled by a recurring problem in the left knee for some time.
Last month she had to abandon her semi-final match in the Pan Pacific Open against Magdalena Maleeva of Bulgaria.
"I'm really disappointed but it's something that needs to heal on its own," the world number nine explained.
