Leicester's All Blacks centre Aaron Mauger says he is still trying to adjust to a new style of play.
But Mauger, who joined Tigers after the World Cup, says he understands the need to balance "risk versus reward rugby".
"Back home the conditions suit a fast, free-flowing game," he told BBC Radio Leicester. "That's why we chuck it around a bit more back there.
"There is probably a little bit more percentage play but if it's winning games then that's important too."
He added: "It depends on what your strengths are as a team."

I'm still finding my feet and getting to grips with a lot of things

Mauger admits he is still acclimatising to life at Welford Road.
"I'm still finding my feet," he said. "I'm still getting to grips with a lot of things that are done a little differently back in New Zealand."
And he says the constant chopping and changing caused by the hectic fixture list and international call-ups also has an impact.
"It's always good to strike up combinations with the guys around you," he said.
