Two first half tries from bottom-of-the-table Leeds helped them to a vital home win over Worcester.

Leeds came out fast, Chris Bell going over inside three minutes and Roland De Marigny firing a penalty, before converting a try of his own.

Shane Drahm replied with two penalties to leave Tykes 15-6 up at the interval.

Warriors fought back with a Drahm drop goal and two penalties in the second half, but two kicks from the boot of De Marigny saw Leeds home safely.

Leeds director of rugby Phil Davies: � "I was very proud of the players in what is a very difficult situation and for them to play like they are playing is very commendable.

"If we keep playing like that, we've got more chance of winning than losing.

"The players' attitude has been excellent and it's a case of building and learning from the experience."

Worcester assistant coach Anthony Eddy:
"We have only got ourselves to blame, but we did get a bonus point out of it, so I suppose it's the one positive to come out of the game.

"Our skill level let us down dramatically and Leeds out-enthused us and they certainly out-muscled us.

"They were a much more physical team than us and won the physical contest. They will survive, they are a good team and it's going to be an interesting few weeks to see how they do."
